Wedding Photography: Cantley House Woking

In april I was in woking at the wonderful Cantley house, A lovely secluded venue with some great gardens and indoor space, Who will also cater for marquee weddings. I cannot recommend this venue enough, The day went smoothly and the wedding planners were excellent and their efforts were amazing. http://www.cantleyhotel.co.uk

In this post will be a list of suppliers who were present on the day too, and they were all great, especially the Pro Slot racing (giant scalectrix) which kept everyone entertained.

The Brides Arivval was in this wonderfull 1930’s badsworth from christophers.co.uk, As you can see it looked great on the day,

Flowers for the day were equally stunning and well put together, From http://www.theflowercornerofwokingham.co.uk

Next up here was the bride coming down the isle, these were among some of my favourites of the day,

I think the Expressions in the image, really capture what i love about wedding photography

CantleyHouseWokingwedding-10The Signing of the Register, This was the Posed shot so don’t worry i wasn’t shooting what i wasn’t meant to, the registrar’s have this ”signing” one, complete with fake names so it looks great

both of the above images were while we were shooting in the grounds, while they are posed in some way, the natural expressions and laughter are great and again moments that I love to capture

This was great Fun! and Yes I had to try it, Who wouldn’t. Provided by Proslot Racing, http://www.proslotracing.com

Then onto the final part of the night, the first Dance, Beats Working were great at providing the music for the night http://www.beats-working.co.uk

A bleak Weymouth Day

I shot this small series while shooting for a uni project I was working on.

my Aim was to show the bleak reality of a coastal town out of tourist season. A contrast from the busy beaches and bustling shops.  To shoot this one i decided to use my new lens baby muse, and limit it to just a f5.6 aperture. This is a very soft lens and gave itself well to the concept i had. the images have then been edited in LR to reflect a moody and grainy scene, with dark blacks and lots of film grain added.

I think it works Really well, this here is a small selection of what was shot  on the day, I may as time goes on release more, or i may not. Who knows.

I may also revisit in the summer with the same kit and same idea but shoot weymouth at its busiest and compare the two.

Somerset Wedding Photography

Hello me again,

This is going back to the 31st of October this year. I shot a wedding in Taunton in Somerset. Church and reception being on the grounds of Taunton School, a private school with some amazing grounds!

With bridal prep at a local hotel, the bride arrived on a horse drawn carrige. The church its self was incredibly dark, with the obvious no flash rule it made life tricker than it could have been. really had to push the cameras to the limit on the ISO speed, with the 1ds having to be maxed out at 3200.  This still only gave me a speed of 1/25th at best at F/4. So to those who know you’ll see just how dark it was. Still some amazing shots of course, the inside was stunning!

And heres a few images of the rest of the day.

Dorset Wedding Photography: Hannah & Chris

Hi all,

This was a wedding shot back in September of this year. A Really fantastic couple who both like the camera. Which is always a Bonus!

I won’t bore you with to many words for this one, But it was a wedding on Portland again, with the church on Easton Square being where the ceremony took place. This is a really lovely church, big very bright and built from portland stone which with its light colours makes for great images.

This last picture was great, We went up to portland bill for the pictures of hannah and chris. And unknown to us it was national speak like a pirate day!  So these rather friendly pirates from the Portland Bill visitors centre came and did some pictures with us

Dorset Landscape Photography: S A V I O U R II

Hi all

Never realised I hadn’t shared this image with you all! Shot back in September when I had a day off from the day job.

Having moved house recently (might I add never in wedding season again!) I’m within walking distance of the Nothe Fort area of Weymouth.

The day was very overcast with broken clouds, the sort I love for Long exposure work. The wind started off seeming promising as the clouds were moving quickly, so would create some great shapes. However it was probably gusting 40mph! not great for keeping a camera shake free for 2min plus!.

Any images I had shot at the end of the pier where there is a large metal viewpoint with a great spiral staircase, were completely unusable due to the vibrations through the camera being buffeted by the gusts.

So back up plan in place, I retreated to the base of the pier sheltered by the fort itself. Where there is a Life Buoy attached to the railings. I’ve shot similar LE’s before.

Shot on the Canon 5dMKii, 17-40 @20mm, ISO 50, F/14, 99 seconds
